I welcome opportunities to speak at industry events or contribute to panel discussions, particularly on topics related to the business of Film, TV, and Media, including strategy, investment, policy, ethics, and industry reform.
My career spans Film & TV from analogue to digital production, with a foundation in equipment and infrastructure, and experience leading major media strategy and investment projects. I bring a practical and strategic perspective to complex topics. Past engagements include:
As part of a panel exploring the financial impact of Brexit on UK media, I shared insights from my experience as CEO of AVTN NewsNet247. On June 24, 2016, as markets reacted to the Brexit referendum, AVTN NewsNet247’s budgets faced a £1 million shortfall due to the Pound's sharp decline. This financial impact led to the inclusion of Amsterdam in our network proposal, accounting for £26.3M of the construction budget and £42.5M in the first year of transmission, rising to £52.3M by year four. These insights provided valuable context for the panel discussion and the broader conference audience.
I was invited to speak at IBC 2022 as part of the ‘Changemakers’ programme, representing Support for Ukrainian Media Professionals. This was our group’s session, and I was joined by Irena Gruca-Rozbicka of Filmmakers for Ukraine. In conversation with Jaisica Lapsiwala, I shared how our group mobilised to support Ukrainian colleagues across the media sector. Irena contributed insights from the Filmmakers for Ukraine initiative, and together we explored the broader challenges of supporting displaced professionals in a time of crisis.
I was invited to speak on the panel “Ukrainian Professionals Crossing the Bridge to the UK Screen Industries,” in collaboration with Filmmakers for Ukraine, ScreenSkills, and Crew United. Representing Support for Ukrainian Media Professionals, I offered guidance to Ukrainian creatives and technicians seeking to enter the UK screen sector—sharing insights on navigating the local industry, freelance culture, and commissioning landscape.
At Boxer Systems’ 2024 BOX Fest, I took part in a panel examining the evolving impact of AI on content creation, rights, and distribution. My focus was on ethical and legal considerations, and how AI is likely to reshape both media production pipelines and strategic business models in the years ahead.
