L.E.Q.

Phillip Covell

FOUNDER | London | APR 2001 to MAR 2014

A camera hire, production, personnel, creative services, and sales company.

  • Change Management & Business Transition: Led the progressive shift from a rental and production-services dominant model to a more sales-focused strategy as the rental market became saturated and margins declined. Strengthened B2B strategies, maintained collaboration with core clients such as the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, and Sky, and expanded the client base to include Bloomberg, CBS, CNBC, National Geographic, and NBC.

  • Revenue Growth & Strategic Pivot: Grew rental revenues by an average of 9.6% annually over the first five years, before pivoting to a sales-focused model that achieved average growth of 43%.

  • Contract Delivery Across Genres: Secured and executed contracts spanning scripted and unscripted productions, feature films with budgets up to $115M, high-end TV dramas, documentaries, music videos and concerts, commercials, motorsport, and major awards shows.

  • Specialist Project Delivery: Delivered a specialist equipment and training contract on schedule for a $10M ITN / Accenture EMEA News project.

  • Advisory & Technology Sales: Successfully advised a leading VFX company in securing a $2.8M technology sale for a high-profile studio project in China.
