Film & TV Equipment Rental

Phillip Covell

At the Crossroads of Strategy, Technology, and Production

As a strategic leader, I bring years of experience in the camera rental sector spanning operations, business development, and direct on-set production support. I’ve contributed to the growth of companies at every stage of maturity, including the rapid expansion of VFG into a public company with international reach. My work has supported new facility launches, the introduction of new equipment types, and market positioning across high-end features, TV drama, documentary, commercials, and location-based production.

Throughout my career, I’ve advised production companies, broadcasters, and crews on the selection and deployment of camera systems, grip and lighting equipment, offering the best tools for the job. My approach is always tailored to the scale, style, technical demands, and budgets of each production. Whether supporting complex features, single-camera drama and documentary shoots, or multi-unit concerts, I understand how to align creative goals with practical execution under real-world conditions.

I’ve personally worked on set across more than 300 Film and TV productions, gaining first-hand experience across diverse scripted and unscripted genres, production formats, and shooting environments.

I developed my career from an early age, with hands-on responsibility for film cameras, lenses, cranes, and dollies. Throughout my career I have worked within companies that not only supplied professional equipment, but also served as training grounds for the next generation of engineers and technicians. This gave me a deep understanding of equipment servicing, logistics, and on-set demands, grounded in real-world problem-solving from the start.

My career experience continues to inform everything I do: strategic, collaborative, technically fluent, and always focused on delivering what production teams need to get the job done on time and to the highest standard.

Camera rental has played a considerable role throughout my career, and I remain open to significant opportunities, whether with an industry-leading camera rental company, an ambitious challenger, or a well-funded start-up aiming to establish global reach.
