I'm an accomplished C-level Executive with extensive experience spearheading all aspects of business, with broad ranging financial, operational, technical, and creative expertise across the Film, TV and Media sectors. As an experienced entrepreneur, I'm a highly analytical leader and corporate strategist with big picture vision, and expertise in enhancing operational efficiency and increasing business exposure and profitability.

 

I have a strong strategic business sense, and forge relationships and partnerships across multiple organisational levels, teams, and stakeholders. Experienced collaborating with production studios, broadcasting corporations and independent productions, supplying technology, services and personnel. Delivered production, technical and creative roles on over 300 productions across small to large scripted and unscripted projects. 

I was a Co-Founder and joint recipient of the 2022 International Broadcast Convention Special Award for ‘Support for Ukrainian Media Professionals,’ Networking more than 400 individuals from over 280 companies and organisations to keep Ukrainian TV on-air, and provide support and aid to refugees across Europe.

As CEO, I spearheaded AVTN NewsNet24⁷, a £218M global news start-up, leading presentations to VCs, Corporates, TMT and Sovereign Wealth Funds. I oversaw the building of end-to-end business and financial strategy; the formulation of innovation-focused technical strategy; led development of editorial and creative strategy; fostered business development opportunities; and established high-level relationships in government bodies worldwide.

As founder of LEQ Ltd, I won global clients such as the BBC, CBS, C4, CNBC, ITN, ITV, NBC and Sky. B2B business strategy delivered production, equipment, personnel contracts and creative roles for scripted, unscripted and factual, features, TV drama, entertainment, conferences, concerts and events.

I began my career with VFG, which grew to a multinational PLC business over the course of a decade with leading production clients. During my time with VFG, I established spin-off, The Lightweight Equipment Co, and launched VFG Ireland, the first international operation.

I am the son of camera rental and industry veteran Tony Covell and as a 2nd generation member of the Film & TV Industry, I began my career and professional training very early on.
